English as a Second Language (ESL). Sometimes called English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Is an English language study program for individuals who do not speak English as their first language. And want to improve their English language skills. The goal of ESL programs is to help students improve their level of English. Different classes teach different language skills depending on the needs and skills of the students. But all courses teach conversational language, grammar, reading, listening comprehension, writing.

 

This program is designed for any individual with foundational knowledge of the English language. Seeking to improve their skills in a professional capacity and setting. They will utilize methods that will help them in their day to day living.

Students will be prepared to perform fluently in English, including speaking, conversing, reading, and writing. The desired result is for all students in this program. They will feel confident in the English language and more comfortably interact in day-to-day American culture. By being introduced to a wide array of techniques and tools. They will be taught by a faculty proficient in English. With appropriate degree and/or commensurate professional experience and/or Qualifications in TOEFL.

Developing English skills while learning ESL

You will develop ESL language skills. Reading, listening comprehension, critical thinking, vocabulary and pronunciation.

While you analyze scripts from Oscar nominated & Oscar winning films from all genres: comedic, dramatic and action adventure. Such as Great Gatsby, Les miserable, Ted, Lone Ranger, Thor, Dallas Buyers Club. 12 Years as a Slave, Gravity. Captain Phillips and many more. Students will grow vocabulary while learning to pick up American speaking rhythm. Also, tonality while knowing how to think quickly on your feet.

Advanced/Beginner English for Actors at the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory focus on the development through the art of acting.

By pairing English and drama together, we shift students from learning in the classroom to learning through life. By acting out real world situations.

Each class will fuse skill development while practicing theatre and film performance and production. Which may include improvisation, grammar worksheets, focused discussion. Reading samples, script analysis, in-class writing, pronunciation and articulation development. And watching/commenting on works of theatre and film.
